From Stockholm to Tokyo, December has been a mental month of travelling. I’ve always had a love for the perfect combination of minimalism, structure, and edge that Scandinavian brands so perfectly balance. This trip was the pinnacle of my Stockholm fashion experience thus far as I not only got my hands on an Acne sample sale, but I also discovered some incredible lifestyle/fashion shops. V Avenue Shoe Repair in particular is a Swedish brand that mixes draping, deconstruction, and minimalism with extreme attention to detail. Imagine neon, silver, and leather embellishments in unexpected yet the most flattering places in their collection. You won’t find any other brand like this in Sweden. I’ve mentioned Biblioteksgatan before, but I cannot stress that this is the street you want to shop on/around in Stockholm. From Danish brand Samsoe Samsoe to a massive Bik Bok, you will lose track of time while shopping on this street.

I should also point out Judits, which I retrospectively would have gone to before shopping at Acne. From Whyred to Carin Wester and Tiger of Sweden, this store has second hand items from any Scandinavian brand you can imagine for anywhere from 60-90% off regular price. It is a must see!

Nightlife in the Winter is a bit different in Stockholm. Rather than open-terrace concept F12, everyone goes to Berns hotel and Riche. Open since 1863 by Stockholm’s most skilled pastry chef Heinrich Robert Berns, the venue is the most beautiful hotel-converted-club I’ve seen in my travels. It has everything from a VIP Shoreditch-bar-type room in the basement to a restaurant and massive chandelier filled hall where an orchestra used to take place. Staying in Södermalm though, we also discovered Häktet – a bar-converted prison correctional facility. It sounds strange, but this place is amazing. We ran into the entire Weekday team at their Christmas party! Across from Häktet is a tiny underground cocktail bar where you need to get your picture taken outside to be allowed in. I highly recommend visiting both!
