Blanche

by laurenlux

Heading to the Canary islands tomorrow (or should I say tonight because the flight is literally at 6 in the morning). All I can think of is white and silver. White midi dresses, white skirts, white jumpers, blouses, you name it. I just can’t get it out of my head.

3 Men’s Autumn Winter Trends You Need to Know

by laurenlux

Want to stay up to speed in the style stakes? We’ve picked three of the season’s key menswear trends to help you get ahead of the game.

1. Into the Blue

From inky shades of ultramarine at Paul Smith and Acne to bright cobalt tones at Ann Demeulemeester, the mood this season is definitely blue. Wear it head-to-toe to hit the sartorial nail on the head or invest in luxury separates to bring your current wardrobe up to date.

2. Second Skin

Making an appearance at all the top designer shows, leather is the hot ticket for autumn/winter. No longer just about the jacket, designers went cowhide-crazy as Yves Saint Laurent’s leather suit proves. For a more wearable way to work the trend, look out for leather lapels and panel detailing on coats, jumpers, jackets and bags.

3. Check Mate

From plaid to argyle to tartan, checks are big news this season. Take a leaf out of Vivienne Westwood’s book and choose smart tailoring in contrasting colour or keep it cool and casual and let a plaid shirt update your weekend wardrobe.

From Lang to Wang

by laurenlux

Thought I would share some recent purchases of mine from 2 of my favourite brands – Helmut Lang and Alexander Wang. I also impulsively purchased the coat below from Etoile Isabel Marant. Safe to say the deposit I received back from my old flat is officially gone! But these items were definitely worth it.

New Kids On the Street (Block)

by laurenlux

Ever noticed that London style is so old school? Everything reminds me of the 70′s/80′s/90′s… kinda like New Kids On the Block. Don’t tell me you’ve already forgotten that legend of a boy band. Neons, cray-cray printed jumpers, boxy hair styles, Football (American) jackets, skinny jeans, jean jackets, double denim love love love. HOWEVER, my recent goal has been to make my posts as relatable as possible. Although they say Londoners dress to be seen, and it is quite entertaining seeing just how far they go to be photographed, I’ve decided to focus on people we actually WANT to dress like + a little bit of quirk. So here ya go:

Blue & Skinny Khakis.. you can never go wrong with this combination

I have a plaid jacket just like that. Yes, I buy men’s clothing for myself. #trending

Italiano? CI! Love the runners. There’s that NKOTB hairstyle I was referring to.

Brother love. Keds love.

Blinded by the light. But wicked studded shoes. Minor quirk.

Double collar & Dessert boots

Leather sleeves? Questionable, but kinda cool.

Football (American) jacket

Red pantaloons (sp?)

Andddd that’s a wrap. For now. God I love skinny ties.

Photocreds? Me. Where/when? London Fashion Week, and obviously Brick Lane, Duh.

Ma Familia

by laurenlux

After some seriously long days of packing up my flat and hunting for a new one, it is finally time to give the LFT (London Food&Fashion Tour) to my family! They arrive tomorrow morning, so excited, and yes they appreciate markets, shopping, and food just as much as me : ) so I will show them my favorite spots in London. Some of the restaurants I am taking them to, and you should all try if you ever get to London are: Poletto (Italian Tapas), Viet Grill (Vietnamese), Hakkassan (Chinese), Great Eastern (Asian Fusion), Pizza East (enough said), and possibly Wahaca or Pinchito (both Mexican Tapas). Of course I’ll also take them to Borough market, Brick Lane, Spitalfields, Camden market, and Portobello market – great excuses to hit my favorite spots and get some amazing streetstyle material.

Here are some more streetstyle photos, and some summer inspiration from Nevermind Magazine and elsewhere:

Gleeks

by laurenlux

Happy Sunday! My friend got free tickets to the live Glee show at the O2 center last night, and we got to go! It was UNREAL, and contrary to what you all may think, the crowd at the show was mainly adults. I figured it would be a much younger crowd, but we were pleasantly surprised that it wasn’t. After Glee we ended up going to this a few cool bars in Shoreditch, one called Old Blue Last, which is actually the pub of Vice Magazine, and then Bedroom Bar. Both were very trendy, which is typical of  the Shoreditch scene. Today was a stunningly beautiful day in London, about 27 degrees celsius and the sun was just beaming down. I spent the day spotting talent in and around Brick Lane and the greater Shoreditch area. I am actually shocked at how the maxi skirt/dress (especially in dark colours) still perseveres in this boiling hot weather! Here’s some of what I came across:

black on black

purple sneakers

persol inspired shades

mixed patterns

red chinos & plaid-esq blue – love this combo!

crrrrazy hair & dr. evil shades

big chains & h-core headpiece

studded jean vest paired with Chanel bag – gives me inspiration for my next project..

faded grey Dr. Martins & all black outfit

jean & camel – fav combo
