Stockholm Syndrome

by laurenlux

My recent awareness of being part-swedish (hard to believe, I know), combined with my undying love for Acne Studios, gave me a serious craving to go to Stockholm. Being the jetsetter that I am, I felt it was imminent to my title  and reputation as a travel freak to follow through on this craving. Well – I am now obsessed with all things Swedish. The food, people, architecture, night-life, fashion, you name it. You could probably tell me something is Swedish just to make me love it.

I think the best part of my experience in Sweden was seeing the Acne Studios Flagship store and hearing all about it’s history. It was an utter shock to me to find out just how influential the story is. The Acne Flagship store on Norrmalmstorg is one of the most famous buildings in Sweden. Formerly a branch of Kreditbanken, this was where the 1973 bank heist took place which introduced the world to Stockholm Syndrome – a psychological phenomenon where hostages grow empathetic towards their captors. What used to be the vaults are now storerooms where Acne stocks their beautiful denim range (see below). Needless to say, I purchased 3 pairs (among too many other things) during my visit to the store. Overall, it was a wonderful experience seeing the store, and finding out that the hostages and their captors still pop in for a visit from time to time. The staff at Acne were absolutely wonderful (as is everyone in Stockholm) – they gave us useful recommendations on where eat, party, and just hang. I highly recommend visiting Riche for a meal/night out.

Up at 8am for a day full of shopping at the Acne Flagship store (wearing sunnies mainly to hide how tired I was)

Some of their S/S12 range (it was May when I went so they were still showing this)

Definite favourite of mine in their footwear collection for S/S12

Acne has essentially made the design of their store around the architecture of the original building

Love the pillars

The wonderfully dynamic yet minimal denim collection

Pure Shores (or maybe shoes)

by laurenlux

HERE WE GO! Street Style Thursday, in celebration of the long weekend. What are all your plans? I’m starting mine off with some ridiculously good (anti-regime) food at Meat Liquor in Mayfair… i.e. burgers, chips, onion rings, chili dogs, and pretty much every type of fried goodness that comes to mind. YUM. Who doesn’t love a heart attack in a meal? Anyway, back to the style of the streets. Streets of Brick Lane that is (duh). Let’s look to these people for inspiration this weekend:

These guys are just kewl. Nuff said.

Blue hair. HELLO.

Happiness is a warm gun. Same with this killer coat.

Tom Ford sunnies & Levi’s acid wash denim shirt

This hair is cray.

Rag & Bone: Womenswear Edition

by laurenlux

Words cannot describe my love for Rag & Bone womenswear. Despite its high price point, it always manages to make its way into my closet. My secret you ask? Okay, fine. I’ll give it away. I only shop Rag & Bone off of www.theoutnet.com, which is Net-A-Porter‘s discount website.  This is likely the most resourceful website when it comes to designer sales. They have offices in New York and the UK so shipping is never expensive, and they offer free returns. WIN WIN WIN. Minus my bank account.

These Surf Knit Leggings are new to R&B and have literally sold out everywhere. I am dying for a pair of these. HELP.

I own these. I love these. This is how they make me feel. Get them here. QUICK! While they’re still on sale!

Introducing, the Hart collection. Dont. Miss. Out.

Another pair I would do anything for. Goetz Print Legging. Pastel perfect.

Silver Tuxedo Blazer. Hello.

Last but not least, the Newport Wedge.

Jetsetter strikes again

by laurenlux

Yes, that’s right. I will be jetsetting off to Barcelona this weekend for Halloween! I know I said the traveling and I were done, but I can’t seem to resist the opportunity to have one more trip in the sunshine. So apparently we are getting back together for one last weekend.

Last week at work was press week, which as I mentioned before is when the lovely editors and stylists from all the publications we deal with come to our showroom to view Spring Summer 12 collections. This basically means turning our showroom upside down and inside out. Chaotic times, but that’s no surprise.. just the nature of the industry. It isn’t slowing down either – we have two store launches next month and endless press events.

Here are some more streetstyle photos, a taste of Oktoberfest, and things I miss… respectively.

Pretty in pink.. I bought this sweater last week!
