Into the Leather

by laurenlux

If anyone knows me, they know that I LOVE LEATHER. It’s an addiction that I simply can’t resist, but one that’s worthy of bringing up since I’m sporting my favourite h&m leather trousers in the below outfit. This weekend I visited Cucumba spa and was lucky enough to enjoy their facial and manicure quick fix. All in all I would recommend as they do a number of treatments at pretty reasonable rates i.e. Wahanda sells most for 40% off! It’s a pretty sweet deal. I also tried Barry’s Bootcamp on Sunday and I am officially addicted. I was fortunate enough to have had access to a personal trainer for years but living in London just didn’t allow me to do it anymore (TOO EXPEEZ). I heard about Bootcamp through a friend and did a bit of research, tried it and now I can’t stop. It’s about 1/4 the price of a personal trainer and the workout is way better. I think it’s the group dynamic that makes you want to work harder since it stirs up a bit of (healthy) competition.

New Cam

by laurenlux

I got a Canon D600 last weekend and had a little play with some recent purchases from Copenhagen, etc. Going from a DSLR to SLR is a big step for me and I think it’s a natural progression in my blogging career. I just think that blogs are all about the visuals and I really wanted mine to look much more professional. PLUS, I love photography as a hobby. I’m heading off to Southeast Asia for a couple weeks in June so it was perfect timing to get used to the new cam before my big trip.

This weekend I discovered the Brandy Melville store in Sloane square which was pretty cool. BM is an Italian brand modelled of L.A. style. Think Coachella meets American Apparel. Although the exchange rate kinda screws people over it’s still very well priced for what it is (similar to H&M prices).

Soleil

by laurenlux

Here’s to some more sunny days in London! I pitched to WGSN this week which was really exciting. Would be incredible to work for them. The fashion dinner on Thursday was a big success. We had Selfridges, Harvey Nichols, Timberland, Roland Mouret, Myla and more attending – it was so much fun! My colleague and I spoke about digital insights in the fashion industry and what brands can do to succeed in 2013. The 3 main trends shaping the fashion industry at the minute are 1) curating and crowd sourcing 2) making fashion week accessible (i.e. Topshop live streaming their catwalk show with options to click to buy the look as it came down the runway plus download the music and share with friends) and 3. Social entertainment (i.e. previewing your new collection over Pinterest before it hits the shops). This weekend I’m going to enjoy the sunshine, shop, blog, and try to find a new camera lens. So happy it’s a long weekend!

Manic

by laurenlux

…is the most fitting word I could think of for this post. Work has been mental — in a good way though. Got a Selfridges event tomorrow that I am helping to run (mad hatters tea event at the Sanderson hotel!), fashion dinner next week (where we’ll talk about digital insights in the luxury fashion industry), and starting with Jamie Oliver and Sweaty Betty as new clients next month which is A-W-E-S-O-M-E! I am actually in love with Sweaty Betty’s workout gear. I’m not gonna lie, being Canadian and all has sort of made me biased towards lululemon but after attending Sweaty Betty’s press day yesterday I fell in love. They really embrace fashion in workout/dance/yoga gear. I’m eyeing a layered crop tank at the minute and their dip dye (obviously) capri leggings which are already sold out online. Bummer.

On another note, I am really embracing this sunny weatha. I thought I would take a few outfit pics while it lasts, which, in London usually isn’t for very long. These were taken on the weekend around Portobello road and in Chelsea after brunch at Bluebird cafe. I do love a good brunch.

Acne Archive

by laurenlux

The shopping highlight of Copenhagen was going to Acne Archive. OH MY GOD. It is incredible. Not only do they have 70% off previous seasons collections… BUT they have unworn/unused samples from the current season. E.G. I bought a bag that I fell in love with in the Acne store but couldn’t afford for the life of me for 50% OFF at Archives. I guess it’s fair to say outlets can be hit or miss but this one was a HIT. Best hit of my life. If only the Acne Lila boot was there too.

Elegantly Grey

by laurenlux

There are 3 ways to describe Danish style: minimal, structured, and sporty (but luxe). It’s almost like Nike meets Acne meets Chanel, all in one outfit. It was nice to go without seeing a Mulberry bag for 3 days. I’m not a Mulberry fan (sorry, I’m not sorry). From kids to adults, everyone was wearing cool trousers with trainers. I am insanely inspired by this look and already have my eye on the pair of New Balance below (the UKK 420). They would go perfect with a pair of leather pants. I do have to say though, credit mainly goes to my friend living in Denmark who had them. Trying to decide between getting a dark pair like this or a colourful pair is difficult, so I think I’ll just have to get both. Oh well.

Favourite brands in Denmark are: Samsøe Samsøe, Dansk, Weekday, Wood Wood, Storm Fashion. If I could choose an outfit right now, it would be this:

1. Samsøe Samsøe Structured Tee

2. Wood Wood Hope Jumper

3. Samsøe Samsøe Stefani Skirt

4. Weekday Jewellery & Tote

6. Acne Angora Scarf (last season)

København

by laurenlux

This past weekend I jet-setted to Copenhagen, or shall I say København (hehe). I am now in love with all things Danish. We stayed at an airbnb flat in Vesterbro, an up and coming area of Copenhagen. We hung out and shopped mostly around Vesterbro, Norrebro, and Indre By (central Copenhagen). Resisting purchasing every item that caught my eye caused me great pain and suffering. I know it’s a blessing in disguise, but I swear, shoes and clothes are haunting my thoughts and dreams. Help. I did indulge in a few bits, some you’ll see in upcoming posts and below. I must also mention that I highly recommend having brunch at Paludan or Granola. Next post I write will be a round up of Danish brands to keep in mind/stalk/buy/stop me from buying/etc.

2. Kenzo Jumper

3. New Icons Jacket (H&M’s new off-duty model collection)
